The newspaper takes its name from its place of origin, the Deccan region of India.The Deccan Chronicle is Hyderabad's largest circulated daily. DC (Deccan Chronicle) newspaper has a total of eight editions, seven published from various parts of Andhra Pradesh (Vishakapatnam, Karimnagar, Nellore, Rajahmundhry, Vijayawada, Secunderabad, and Anantapur) and one from Chennai. The Chennai edition, the newspaper's first edition published outside Andhra Pradesh, was first printed on 28th March, 2005.
